Three years ago today thousands of CFA volunteers — many from across Polwarth — marched on the Victorian Parliament to demand Daniel Andrews and Labor listen and show them the respect they deserve.

Despite this, Daniel Andrews continues to arrogantly push through legislation to tear the CFA apart.

The current Labor Government is misusing its power to destroy the CFA, a proud service that has for decades protected Victorians in their time of need.

Since Daniel Andrews was elected in 2014 we have seen more than 3,500 volunteers leave the CFA.

We need these thousands of volunteers to protect our homes, families and communities every day.

We need the surge capacity they provide for tragic events like Black Saturday, Ash Wednesday and the St Patrick’s Day fires in Polwarth.

Labor has introduced this new attack on the CFA without anyone having seen the legislation, and plan to pass it in only 2 days.

Comments attributable to Member for Polwarth, Richard Riordan MP

The Liberal National opposition and independents in State Parliament have opposed the Andrews Government ramming legislation through against the CFA, without the contents of the Bill being known.

It is hugely irregular that legislation should be introduced to the Parliament without Members of Parliament actually knowing the contents of the Bill.

I strongly support the CFA in Polwarth, and find it outrageous this government is moving so dishonourably and strongly against the CFA and the people of Victoria. It is proper in a democracy that all legislation be examined and considered, not for laws to be forced through like this.
