South west roads petition

July 8, 2019

Member for Polwarth, Richard Riordan MP is asking the community to support a petition demanding that the State Government properly fund and actually fix our vital road networks.

“Dan Tehan and the Federal Government have contributed $140 million to get a start on fixing our roads, but so far the State Government has provided nothing for the Princes Highway West.

“Major country roads are crumbling and need to be repaired urgently.

“I am calling on the community to stand together and demand action from the State Government after it was revealed only 4% of State infrastructure spending has been outside of Melbourne.

“This is a petition for our whole community, every single one of us use our roads in some way, be it children on the school bus, driving to and from work, transporting goods or travelling on the weekend. Roads are vital for our economy.

“This is our opportunity to send a strong message to the Labor Government that enough is enough! We will not stand by any longer as our roads fall apart while billions of dollars are pumped into projects in Melbourne.

“I am asking for signatures to help support sending a strong message to Daniel Andrews.

“If you can help, I would love to hear from you. Stand with me, together I know we can achieve great things for our region,” Mr Riordan said.

The petition is available at or at the office.

Mr Riordan’s office can be contacted between 9am and 5pm Monday to Friday by phoning 5231 5046 and is located at 115a Bromfield St, Colac.
