About Richard - Member for Polwarth
Richard lives in Elliminyt with his wife Catherine and four children.
Richard grew up in Colac and became the Managing Director of his family’s business — Colac Hire and Riordan LPG — which has operated in the region for five generations.
Richard is an active community participant. He has been a Board member of the Colac Area Health Foundation and the Corangamite Catchment Management Authority. He has also previously served as a School Councillor at Sacred Heart Primary School in Colac.
As a former Chair of the Colac Area Health Service, Richard led a $30 million redevelopment of the region’s health care.
Like many families in the area, the Riordan’s have been involved in numerous local sporting clubs and community groups including the Hawkes Basketball Club and the Irrewarra-Beeac Football Club.
Richard understands that Polwarth needs a strong local voice, and is an advocate for regional and rural Victoria.
Richard was elected to State Parliament on 31 October 2015 in a by-election after the retirement of former MP, Terry Mulder.
