Polwarth District Electorate
Polwarth District is a rural electorate located south-west of Melbourne. The large electorate covers 12,561 square kilometres.
The District includes the centre of the Western District, one of the most fertile dairying and pastoral areas in Victoria. Industries include the manufacture of cheese, butter and other dairy products, timber and sawmilling, vegetable growing, cattle and sheep farming, and tourism.
Polwarth includes a large proportion of Victoria’s iconic Great Ocean Road taking in the tourism towns of Anglesea, Cape Otway, Peterborough, Aireys Inlet, Lorne, Apollo Bay and Port Campbell. Towns in this region are renowned for excellent tourism services including accomodation, restaurants and retail offerings, fishing and aquaculture.
Polwarth’s diverse landscape includes the dense rainforests of the Otway National Park famous for its tall forests, ferny gullies, magnificent waterfalls and tranquil lakes.
