My Issue is regarding the issue of roadside grazing on Roads managed by Vic Roads.
My objective is to reduce the fire risk, 6-7 km long, 30 metres wide of 4-5 foot grass represents a significant risk.
Trying to obtain a roadside grazing licence to manage these areas is just so hard!. In the past it was simply a matter of applying, meeting the signage and fencing requirements and a licence would be issued.
Over the past year or 2 Vic Roads have changed their process and now won’t issue a permit without sign off from DELWP, who on turn require individual farmers to undertake an environmental assessment of the area. It is completely unreasonable to put this burden on the farmer who is simply trying to manage a fire risk on government land.
I’ve attached a link to an interview I did with Neil Mitchel on 3AW this morning where I expressed my frustration with the process.
Any assistance you could offer in helping with this would be greatly appreciated.
