Richard Riordan MP says Andrew's persistent claims of ignorance are now 'unbelievable'.
Victorian Liberal MP Richard Riordan says “absolutely no one” believes Premier Daniel Andrews anymore when he claims he has no idea what went wrong with Victoria’s management of COVID-19.
Victorian authorities including Health Minister Jenny Mikakos, Chief Health Officer Brett Sutton and Premier Daniel Andrews gave evidence at the Public Accounts and Estimates Committee on Tuesday
. They faced a grilling over their management of the Victoria's hotel quarantine program which triggered a new wave of cases in the state.
Mr Andrews refused to reveal whose decision it was to hire a governmental department to run the botched hotel quarantine scheme.
“Me and my colleagues and the rest of Victoria have for weeks now seen Daniel Andrews face up to these questions and continually and totally deny any knowledge, any understanding of what went wrong," Mr Riordan told Sky News.
“Absolutely no one believes him anymore. “I mean, how can the premier of the state of Victoria, when he’s in charge, oversee what has simply become the most catastrophic failure in government policy … and not ask one question?
“Has he not sat with any (ministers) and said, ‘what the heck’s happened?’”
